Alex Reid is a strength & conditioning specialist who has worked in professional high performance sport for over 20 years.
Her background includes 10 years in professional football for two Premiership Clubs, leading and managing the strength and conditioning and sports science programmes for the professional squads, in addition to conducting all of the functional rehabilitation of the injured players.
Since leaving her involvement in football, Alex has worked for and consulted in a number of high profile sporting environments and professional bodies including World Rugby, the British karate team, The Football Association, England Athletics, the Lawn Tennis Association, a number of professional golfers, elite rowers, national level skiers, GT3 Motor Racing driver, in addition to working with a member of The Royal Family.
Alex currently runs her own strength & conditioning business, Perform Fitness, seeing private clients and also consults as a strength & conditioning coach for the Rugby Football Union taking care of the strength & conditioning for the professional game match official team who officiate in the English Premiership, European Cup Competitions, as well as internationally in the Six Nations and World Rugby fixtures.
Alex has co-authored a book on running: Elite Performance Running: from Middle Distance to Marathon, published by A&C Black (2009) and more recently published The Science of Stretching, published by The Crowood Press (2017) which is her second book.
In addition to her Sports Science degree, Alex is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength & Conditioning Association and is an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCC) with the United Kingdom Strength & Conditioning Association.
Alex takes great passion and has great attention to detail in her conditioning sessions, whether it be to prepare you for an upcoming event or personal target, or rehabilitate you from an injury, acute or chronic, or surgery.
